Environmental impact assessment

North Killingholme Power Project is an environmental impact assessment (EIA) development under the Infrastructure Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2009 (the 'EIA Regulations'). As a result C.GEN carried out an EIA. This examined how North Killingholme Power Project impacts on its surroundings and how any impacts are to be mitigated.

C.GEN consulted on preliminary environmental information relating to North Killingholme Power Project, in accordance with the EIA Regulations. This information was presented in a Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR).

Environmental Statement

The ES was been prepared in accordance with the EIA Regulations. Before undertaking EIA of the Project, C.GEN requested a Scoping Opinion from the IPC. This request was made in May 2011, and was supported by a Scoping Document. The Scoping Document described the key anticipated environmental issues that would require detailed evaluation as part of the EIA process. The ES took into account the comments of the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) (see also 'Planning') as set out in their Scoping Opinion (July 2011).

The IPC Scoping Opinion can be found on the PINS website.

Responses to the IPC received after the official close of the Scoping process were also considered within the EIA and the design of the Project. The EIA process and the PEIR took the Scoping Opinion and other consultation responses into account.

Preliminary Environmental Information

A PEIR is required under the EIA Regulations. It was published in association with C.GEN’s Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC). The PEIR was intended to allow those taking part in the pre-application consultation (as outlined in C.GEN's SoCC) to understand the nature, scale, location and likely significant environmental effects of the Project such that they could make an informed contribution to both the EIA process and the ultimate design of the Project, as appropriate.
